This intimate retreat sits on a rare double lot in West Hollywood. ​ Conceived as the Los Angeles pied-à-terre for a couple based in San Francisco, the remodel of the existing main house converted a warren of small spaces into a dramatic single grand gallery for entertaining, showcasing the couple’s collection of contemporary photography. BCV Architecture + Interiors enjoyed the honor of closely collaborating with the celebrated interior designer Suzanne Rheinstein on this residence, crafting the architectural envelope for interiors suffused with Rheinstein’s signature New Orleans graciousness—from the hand-painted floors and subtle interior ornamentation to the carefully curated, antiques-enriched mix of furnishings. ​ BCV championed a design that allowed for views of the lush gardens from every room, amplifying the sense of a serene, verdant sanctuary. ​ The secluded grounds are made up of a series of singular outdoor spaces for indoor/outdoor living, with fountains, fireplaces and vintage brick-paved terraces. ​ Evergreen magnolia trees frame a grassy expanse, and a hedged secret garden features a long saltwater pool that terminates into an ivy-covered copper-roofed pavilion, shipped from England. A small guest house completes the harmonious estate, with a Moroccan-inspired bar/lounge that hosts extraordinary gatherings.
