Armando & Sons Butcher Shop
Reno, NV
Looking to create a neighborhood butcher shop in Reno, Chris and Joanne Flocchini, along with Eric Halstead approached BCV to help achieve their goals. The Flocchini family are fourth-generation meat providers, and Eric is a lifelong butcher. Through their collaboration they began Armando & Sons, providing high-quality meat and seafood to the Reno community.
BCV was tasked with designing tenant improvements for Armando & Sons within an existing luxury lifestyle shopping center, The Village at Rancharrah. The retail space is organized around the three primary program components: a full-service butcher shop, a burger bar, and dry-aged meat cases along the back feature wall. Accommodations for grab-and-go merchandise and fine food complements were scattered throughout the space to complete the customer experience. The remainder of the tenant layout was allocated for back-of-house functions - backstock, office, refrigeration, and additional food preparation. BCV created a form inside of the shell that recalls an agrarian barn structure, and peeled away the ceiling to reveal a skylight that floods the space with natural light.
The design celebrates Armando & Sons’ old school / new school approach, evoking the feeling of a classic butcher with refreshingly modern detailing and finishes.
