IRVInE SPECtrum center
Irvine, California
BCV Architecture + Interiors has enjoyed a sustained working relationship with The Irvine Company for over 20 years, providing architectural design services to several iconic Southern California retail center projects. The Irvine Spectrum Center is an entertainment based outdoor shopping center in Southern California, first opened in 1995. BCV Architects and The Irvine Company are transforming the Irvine Spectrum Center by embracing timeless design principles similar to those applied at Fashion Island. Drawing inspiration from vibrant community destinations, the redesign integrates curated retail, diverse dining, and thoughtfully reimagined public spaces.
The current vision introduces Renaissance ideals of harmony and elegance into the center’s modern architectural framework. A newly designed gateway public space incorporates classical proportions and dynamic light features, highlighting a grand ficus tree as its centerpiece, ensuring dramatic visual impact by day and night.
Future enhancements prioritize pedestrian connectivity through a cohesive east-west circulation redesign and completion of the center’s pedestrian loop. These improvements aim to align the Irvine Spectrum Center’s architecture and community engagement with a sense of sophistication and place-making.
