GOTT'S ROADSIDE
Walnut Creek, California

Gott’s Roadside’s Walnut Creek location is one of the newest iterations of the popular Gott’s brand. Through a detailed prototyping exercise prior to engaging on the design of the recently opened Marin and Walnut Creek locations, BCV collaborated with the Gott’s team in creating these exciting new restaurants under the tagline ‘roadside redefined.’

At Walnut Creek, BCV worked to capture the essence of the traditional roadside legacy of the original St. Helena outlet, including a focus on opening the space to the outside and creating a true indoor/outdoor experience– a hallmark of the Gott’s heritage. A series of roll-up garage doors link the interior and exterior dining areas, while a fully glazed-in exhibition kitchen contributes to the open, airy experience.

The Walnut Creek location incorporates a beer and wine bar with a mix of communal seating at one end of the dining room, while maintaining the inviting and family friendly burger destination atmosphere for which the restaurant is known. A palette of painted v-groove wood siding, blackened steel plate casings and detailed stainless steel kitchen is warmed by the overlay of oak benches and tables, ipe wood exterior furniture, and a single-plank communal wood table anchoring the dining area.

The introduction of a striking painted steel and cedar trellis gives shade and definition to the significant wrap-around outdoor terrace. Personalized to each location, the Gott’s graphics team has provided identity graphics throughout – including at Walnut Creek a prominent illustration of nearby Mt. Diablo.
