JUNIOR INTERIOR DESIGNER

LOCATION

ABOUT
BCV Architects is currently seeking a junior interior designer with 2-4 years of design experience to join our interior design department. Job duties will include:

  • Collaborate on lifestyle, hospitality, retail, food and beverage, and high-end residential interiors projects, including programming client needs, conceptual and schematic design, design development, construction documents and contract administration
  • Develop space planning concepts and generate program documents
  • Participate in selection of furniture and lighting, and prepare specifications
  • Produce millwork/custom furniture and fixture drawings and details, which meet various and specific program requirements while also representing an overall design concept
  • Provide project team coordination for finish plans, specifications, and material selections required for construction
  • Work with consultants, furniture dealers, product reps, and fabricators to meet overall project objectives
  • Assist in managing client expectations, team communication and consultant coordination
  • Act as the primary contact for all manufacturer representatives, including organizing vendor presentations
  • Maintain and organize the firm's technical library and design reference and sample libraries

QUALIFICATIONS

  • 2-4 years of related experience as an Interior Designer or Architectural Designer with focus on interiors
  • Knowledge of the design process, including FF&E, specifications, color and materials
  • Excellent graphic presentation skills
  • Revit experience preferred
  • AutoCAD knowledge is required
  • Flexibility to focus on a single client with a variety of project types or multiple, concurrent projects in various stages of development
  • Ability to communicate design ideas and direction quickly and efficiently
  • Strong organizational, communication and relationship management skills
  • Knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite – InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator required
  • Knowledge of 3D modeling program such as SketchUp is required
  • Knowledge of additional 3D modeling programs such as Rhino and 3D Max is preferred
  • Knowledge of rendering programs such as Vray, Lumion, Maxwell or others is preferred

ADMINISTRATIVE ASSISTANT

ABOUT
BCV is seeking an administrative assistant to support two busy principals in the daily business of running the firm. This individual will provide administrative, project, and research support for the principals and will be exposed to multiple facets of running a design-oriented architecture and interior design firm. This key position requires a dynamic, energetic and quick-witted individual who thrives in a fast-paced environment and will take ownership of responsibilities and anticipate needs. An interest in design is encouraged, but not required. 
Job duties include:

  • Manage principal schedules and workflow 
  • Assist with client relations – handle calls, follow-ups, and the coordination of meetings 
  • Draft general correspondence (letters, transmittals, emails)
  • Prepare travel arrangements 
  • Provide project assistance and research as needed 
  • Provide administrative support for off-site meetings, events, and retreats
  • Prepare expense reports (monthly) and timesheets (semi-monthly)
  • Coordinate office-wide staffing with principals and project managers
  • Manage contacts database
  • Undertake miscellaneous reasonable personal errands and tasks as needed
  • Back up the receptionist when out of the office with oversight of general office duties

QUALIFICATIONS

  • 4 year college degree required
  • Interest in design desired but not required
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint) required
  • Experience with Adobe Creative Suite desired
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Impeccable attention to detail, exceptional follow through and organizational skills
